Studio, Office, or Event Venue: Where to Host Your Corporate Cake Decorating Event

4 min read

Deciding where to host a corporate cake decorating event in San Francisco usually comes down to headcount. Groups up to 30 fit comfortably in our studio, larger teams are easier to host in your own office, and an outside event venue makes sense when the activity is one part of a bigger program that already has a space booked.

Each option changes what your team has to arrange and what we bring. Below is an honest look at all three, including the room requirements planners tend to ask about only after the date is locked.

Planner Summary

Studio: up to 30 guests, nothing for you to arrange, San Francisco only. Your office: any size, needs tables and a sink nearby, no travel time for the team. Event venue: any size, best when the activity sits inside a larger agenda, needs a catering or vendor approval from the venue. All three include setup, instruction, and cleanup.

Option One: Our San Francisco Studio

The studio is already set up for decorating. Stations, tools, lighting, and workflow are all in place, which means the session starts on time and nobody on your side has to think about the room. It hosts up to 30 guests.

This is the easiest option for a department dinner replacement, a small leadership offsite, or a team that wants to leave the building for a couple of hours. The trade off is travel: everyone has to get there and back, so factor that into the calendar block, especially for teams coming from the Peninsula or the East Bay.

Option Two: Your Office

For groups larger than 30, and for any team that cannot afford travel time, we come to you. We serve San Francisco, South San Francisco, Oakland, Berkeley, San Mateo, Redwood City, Palo Alto, Mountain View, Santa Clara, San Jose, Walnut Creek, and San Ramon.

What the room needs is modest: tables the group can work at, chairs for a seated class, and a sink or kitchen area nearby. A conference room, a cafeteria, an all hands space, or a lobby all work. What helps us most is knowing about parking or loading, badge access for our instructor and assistant, and how far the room is from the entrance, since that determines our arrival time.

Option Three: An Event Venue

When the decorating session is one block inside a longer offsite, a holiday party, or a client event, the venue is usually already chosen. We travel to venues across San Francisco and the Bay Area the same way we travel to offices.

The one extra step here is the venue's own rules. Many require outside vendors to be approved in advance, and some have restrictions on kitchen access or load in windows. Loop us in with the venue contact early and we will handle that conversation directly rather than leaving it on your list.

How Much Space Each Format Needs

A cake decorating class needs the most room, because each guest works on a four inch cake with a set of piping tools for about two hours and needs a seat and elbow space. Cake painting needs a similar setup for about one and a half hours but with a smaller footprint of materials. Cupcake decorating needs the least: guests can stand at a station, and the session runs about one to one and a half hours.

If your room is smaller than your headcount would suggest, cupcakes in waves solve the problem without cutting anyone from the list.

What Is Included Wherever You Host

Pre baked cakes or cupcakes, decorating tools and materials, American buttercream, custom frosting colors, custom edible logos, a professional instructor, assistant support, setup, cleanup, and individual take home boxes. Vegan, egg free, and gluten free options can be requested at least seven days before the event. Guests need no experience.

A Simple Way to Choose

Under 30 guests who would enjoy getting out of the office points to the studio. Any headcount where travel time is the problem points to your office. An activity that has to slot into an agenda somebody else is already running points to the venue. If two of those are true at once, send us the details and we will tell you which one we would pick.

FAQ

How large of a group can the studio hold?

Up to 30 guests. Our studio is in San Francisco, and it is the only physical location we have. Larger groups are hosted at your office or a venue.

Can you come to our office?

Yes, throughout San Francisco and the Bay Area. We bring everything and handle setup and cleanup, so the room goes back to normal when we leave.

Do we need a kitchen?

No cooking happens on site, so a full kitchen is not required. Access to a sink or a kitchen area nearby makes setup and cleanup easier.

How long do you need for setup?

We arrive ahead of the start time and set up the stations before guests come in. The exact window depends on your group size and how accessible the room is, and we confirm it with you before the event.

Does the location change the price?

Pricing depends on the event format, group size, and location, so yes, where you host is one of the factors. Send us the details and we will quote it.

Tell us your headcount, your preferred date, and where you are thinking of hosting, and we will confirm what fits and send you a custom quote.
